Residencia Filipinas blends soberly and coherently into the surrounding urban context.

Located in the Portales neighbourhood of Mexico City, this project stems from the intention to build intelligently: optimising resources, prioritising efficiency and using low-maintenance finishes, without compromising on aesthetics. The building blends naturally into its surroundings, a residential area of modest scale, where buildings rarely exceed four storeys.

With a total area of 1,920 m2, the complex is spread over three levels that house a variety of types, expanding the possibilities for use and adding commercial value. No two flats are alike, although they all start from a basic layout: two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, dining room, kitchen, laundry area, and an outdoor space.

Each apartment is adapted to its position within the building: on the ground floor, terraces extend living space outdoors, while on the middle and upper levels, each unit has a section of the roof garden that opens up the horizon towards the city.

The façade, composed of a system of recesses that create staggered balconies, gives movement and rhythm to the volume, just as the main entrance, defined by a triple height void crowned by a dome, marks the entrance and articulates the reading of the whole.

The experience of living in these flats is defined by the functionality of the spaces. Each unit seeks to make the most of the available space, favouring natural light and ventilation. The materials and proportions respond to a criterion of sobriety and permanence, privileging everyday comfort over formal excess. The building proposes a form of contemporary housing that strikes a balance between efficiency, spatial quality and a direct relationship with the surrounding urban environment.
