Refurbish and Remodellign of a School House Apartment

The clients are a professional couple who own an apartment in a converted Victorian school building in South London. Their brief was to upgrade the apartment and to enhance the use of space, improve the amount and type of storage, introduce a more luxurious feel and to achieve a more design-led finish.

There was a lot of wasted space in the apartment. The master bedroom and the mezzanine level were poorly configured, with a spiral staircase that broke up the ground floor. There was also limited storage and a lack of good amenity on the ground floor.

We provided an architectural and interior design service to transform the property into the luxurious apartment. This included reconfiguring the floor plan and adding in a large amount of storage to make use of the space below the mezzanine floor. We also repositioned the stair and added extra storage within the bedrooms, creating a master dressing room suite and a utility area at the mezzanine landing level.

Our interior design team specified new flooring throughout the apartment that linked with the panels in the kitchen and treads to the staircase. This careful detailing enabled the achievement of an integrated look and feel throughout the apartment.

We appointed specialist joiners and metal fabricators to create bespoke fixtures and fittings to match our clients’ tastes. The shelving system provided by Vitsoe creates the right type and volume of storage and makes an impressive feature. Our interiors team specified a number of pieces of furniture to fit with the new materials palette and styling.
