The Serene Living Apartment is located in a newly constructed residential building in Kalamaria, Thessaloniki, and aims to be a space that promotes the concepts of tranquility and relaxation. Every aspect of the space has been carefully designed to provide an environment that enhances well-being. The design incorporates serenity, while the layout of the rooms caters to the modern needs of a family, offering functionality and aesthetic enjoyment according to the personalized desires of its members. The functionality and organization of the spaces have been tailored to meet the needs of a busy family.
The open-plan living area has been appropriately organized through furniture and false ceilings into separate zones for the living room, dining area, and office, facing south with large openings and views towards the coastal front of Kalamaria. The kitchen is oriented northeast, allowing the family to make use of the summer months on the well-designed outdoor terrace as a space for relaxation and gathering. The sleeping zone on the 4th floor is divided into 2 areas aiming for the privacy and independence of the family members. One area includes two bedrooms served by their own bathroom, with the possibility of being fully isolated from the common areas, as it can be accessed through a second independent external entrance. The second sleeping zone is closer to the main entrance and includes a master bedroom with an en suite bathroom. The increased storage needs of the owners significantly influenced the layout of the spaces. The interior staircase, next to the entrance, leads to the 5th floor where a kitchen-living area, a bathroom, and a bedroom serving as a guest room are developed. On the rooftop, an outdoor area is configured with an outdoor kitchen, living area, and dining area. There, a raised wooden floor and a mini pool are also installed, oriented towards the sea view. The plantings, water elements, and unobstructed view of the sea contribute to creating an atmosphere of well-being and relaxation, offering a respite from the intense pace of daily life in the modern city.
Large-format tiles and finishes help highlight the spaciousness of the apartment. Simultaneously, minimal false ceilings are designed to accommodate the electrical needs of the space and allow for alternative lighting scenarios without diminishing the height of the space. The choice of a natural color palette dominated by earthy tones such as white, beige, and cream creates a sense of harmony and tranquility. The element of wood in the furniture and finishes, combined with the fireplace that anchors the living area, contributes to creating a warm atmosphere.
