Milan, in a historic building a stone's throw from the Navigli, a 140 sqm apartment with a traditional floor plan has been transformed into a contemporary home with a strong artistic touch. The Mood, almost metaphysical, celebrates the fusion between the Mediterranean and Nordic minimal style. Sculptural elements and solid forms take on further prowess in combination with other slender and subtle ones. The material of the finishes covers and envelops, configuring the house almost like a single block carved inside a classic house with high ceilings and arched passages. Glass and curtains create plays of perspective that combine to outline almost scenographic representations enhanced by the rhythm of the windows from which the light penetrates vigorously into the living and sleeping areas.

Details of the project

Custom-made structures and a careful study of the points of view and passages inspired by a vision of the house as a place of retreat and relaxation. Each single room suggests an amplified perspective that extends beyond its own borders, thus determining the expectation of seeing beyond and of already projecting oneself into the adjacent room. Here, then, is that the living room leads us into the kitchen through the hall while the bedroom establishes a visual connection with the bathroom.

A very classic plant thus becomes a fluid space, almost without barriers. Many elements are fixed structures made to measure which allows them to be perceived as an integral part of the architecture. The presence of furniture reduced to the essential completes the image and suggests the style in which to live in this house.
