This was a spec house designed for a developer on a ½ acre lot where the existing house was torn down. The house consists of 5000 SF over 2 floors, with an additional 1000 SF of living space in the basement.
The program consists of a living room, dining room, kitchen, breakfast room, family room, study, laundry room & powder room on the first floor, with a master bedroom suite & 4 bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms on the second floor. The basement consists of a 2 car garage, a mud room, a 500 SF play room & an additional bedroom & bathroom for a guest or live-in au pair.
The house sits well above the road, so the garage is tucked underneath in the basement. Once inside, the family room on the first floor opens onto a large bluestone terrace on a large, level rear yard.
The exterior of the house was designed as a shingle style house with cedar shingles with a sweep at the beltline & a stone veneer base that ends at the first floor window sills, which anchors the house to the ground. All exterior trim is painted black, while the front door & sidelights are wood with a stain applied.
