Simed Health Care Group

DHV architects as Architects

The professionals employed by Simed, who often work on international projects all over the world, will find both a dynamic work environment and a ‘home base’ in this new head office in Utrecht.

The Simed building is primarily used as an office building for a variety of Simed’s departments and also acts as a storage and work place for advanced medical equipment as well as hospital disposables.

The main part of the building consists of an office section and a business hall section. Both sections have been designed in a uniform and robust building style that is consistent with the proposed nearby hospital and the urban appeal of Midden Wetering.

The exterior of the building is made from maintenance-free and honest materials like natural stone, anodised aluminium, glass and expanded metal. These solid and durable materials give the building a strong and stylish appearance. The wooden facade covering and the soft polycarbonate create a balance between the materials and contribute to the building’s warm and welcoming appearance.

This project received the Audience Award of the Rietveldprijs 2009.
