Located in Hoehyeon, the SK Leaders View Namsan apartment project was about translating the clear aesthetic and lifestyle of a client who had lived in a single home for nearly 30 years into a new residential space. With a strong sense of taste shaped over decades, the client brought a deep sensitivity to the process, and our role was to engage in thoughtful dialogue and design solutions that respectfully reflected it.
Every element of the interior was considered in relation to the client’s existing furniture, cherished belongings, and daily routines. A key focus was harmonizing the space with their impressive collection of artworks. We installed a gallery rail system along the corridor and main walls for flexible display, and positioned adjustable spotlights to highlight each piece like in a curated exhibition.
In the guestroom, we complemented the client’s beloved red mother-of-pearl cabinet with a textured cotton wallpaper, and added subtle accents using red thread hand-stitched directly into the wall. Honoring the client’s wish to reuse traditional hanji sliding doors, we crafted new built-in wardrobes with matching paper doors to maintain a consistent aesthetic throughout the master bedroom.
To enhance openness, the dividing wall between the kitchen and living room was removed. At the same time, we created a practical pantry and secondary kitchen hidden from view to accommodate more active cooking without compromising the overall calmness of the space. Warm wood veneer was used throughout the kitchen cabinetry and interior doors, and delicate lattice sliding doors were introduced where more visual flow was needed.
This project was less about creating something new from scratch, and more about reinterpreting a well-lived past into a space that feels both familiar and renewed. At BLRKR, we aim to translate each client’s unique rhythm and aesthetic into spatial experiences that feel personal, intentional, and enduring.
