Perched on a steep sand dune overlooking the bay and town of Sorrento this house had to navigate a complex brief and site, resulting in a sensitive and elegant design that comfortably accommodates 4 generations of family with an abundance of views, textures, colours and fun.

What were the key challenges?
A difficult site of sand and steep slopes. Maintaining a very high level of finish and amenity within budget.

What were the solutions?
An elegant but simple form of two perpendicularly stacked boxes set into and floating over the sloping landscape respectively. A rooftop terrace allows for the first-floor living area to open to the outdoors while also having spectacular views over the town and bay. Areas of the home can be opened up or closed off depending on the fluctuating presence of family occupants.

What was the brief?
A luxurious but playful holiday home for a large family. A combination of private spaces and shared spaces that take advantage of the scenic views.
