Commercial and "Kontorhaus"-type buildings from the early 20th century define the character of the richly traditional Spitalerstraße. Mönckeberghaus, Seeburg and Barkhof, together with the former Volkslesehalle (reading room), here form an outstanding late historicist ensemble. Thanks to its filigree stone facade structure the new building is integrated in this setting as a modern component.
