RIQUALIFICATION STATION GEMELLI ROMA
The project idea, founding the architectural composition aimed at the Restyling of the Gemelli Station in Rome, is essentially based on the study of the many urban / architectural fronts of which it is composed.
Body "A"
The "A" Corps of entry to the Gemelli Station is in direct connection with the fast urban arteries of Via della Pineta Sacchetti. The relationship with the city, of this entrance, is essentially expressed through: speed; the movement of the vehicular flow and the relationship given by a public space in front of redevelopment. On this front they also insist on potential station activities which, to date, are in a state of decay due essentially to their inactivity. This urban scene is visible from many points of view and also from a distance. Beyond Via Pineta Sacchetti there is a pedestrian crossing in direct contact with the purely residential part of the neighborhood as well as the park and the cycle path. From this entrance the user has the right to decide whether, to get to the dock, use the underpass in continuation of the cycle path or cross the road, at altitude, and enter directly into the atrium of the body A.
The project turns its attention to the primary problem of being able to connect and redevelop the status of these fragments of urban prospects connoting them as determined for the recognition of the station and mend the relationship with the Trionfale district. The first design consideration is to transfer an urban signal of more utility giving greater importance and visibility to the presence of the station body, thus facilitating its Recognizability and User Usability. The 2018 VENICE BIENNALE ARCHITETTURA is the perfect opportunity to recount the design process undertaken by the AMAART Architects studio as part of the redevelopment of the Gemelli railway station in Rome.
