In Grândola, within the grounds of Sublime Comporta, Fragmentos — working with architect José Charrua — has designed Sand, a new expansion of the resort that builds on the established Sublime Comporta Terracota while deepening the project's founding principle: respect for the sense of place.

The masterplan is organised around the Atrium, a central hub gathering the resort's communal facilities — restaurants, bars, spa and pools — from which pathways lead out to the villas, balancing shared and intimate spaces in continuous dialogue with the surrounding landscape. Two new facilities extend the resort's programme: the Forum, built for events, and Aqua, a wellness centre.

The architectural language draws on regional building traditions, with cabin-like volumes wrapped in timber and glass beneath zinc roofs. Each villa is conceived as a private sanctuary, oriented for seclusion and a direct relationship with the landscape. Exposed wood, metal detailing and an earth-toned material palette reinforce the sense of continuity with the surrounding cork oak and pine landscape.
