Sicilia Noto _ Vendicari Natural Reserve

An extraordinary contemporary architecture with a spectacular view of Vendicari Natural Reserve.

TerraMia respects the light, the aromas and the silence of the Sicilian land.

The infinite line of the horizon and the spectacular view of the Vendicari Nature Reserve inspired the architectural project. The landscape crosses the body of the house seamlessly.

TerraMia was built in 2015.

The furnishings of the whole house are contemporary, the design respects the rules and the landscape, almost physically containing it, in pursuing a continuous dialogue between nature and architecture. The symbiosis with the context is expressed through the choice of the beautiful Noto stone and the lava stone of the Vulcan Etna.

The living room has large sliding glass doors that overlook the Nature Reserve and open onto a very particular pool area served by terraces with numerous resting points. The swimming pool, made in lava stone, has been conceived in a central position as a large Arab tub, where you can relax and chat with friends who relax on the nearest terraces.

Next to the swimming pool, surrounded by very ancient lentisk plants, prickly pears and olive trees, a covered panoramic terrace hosts a large lava stone dining table and a well-equipped outdoor kitchen with barbecue.

From the covered panoramic terrace several terraces without cover develop creating magical convivial places for the evenings with friends under the stars.

Internally, the panoramic living area is equipped with large sofas and a centrally positioned lava stone fireplace. A beautiful "made to measure" island kitchen dominates the space while large ad hoc doors hide the appliances, the pantry and the sink.

The sleeping area is rather private, more closed, with tall and narrow glass door windows that frame the sea. Each of these glass door windows offers direct access to the garden with a breathtaking view of the surrounding almond groves, the salt lagoons of the Natural Reserve and the sea. Two of the bedrooms are double while the third is a flexible double room that can be converted into a double. All bedrooms have their own private bathroom with shower.

Large iron solar screens run along the facade, modeling and fragmenting the light in the hottest hours, creating origami designs on the floor, like the texture of an Arab architecture. A guarantee for safety that also allows air circulation.
