The Heights House, Wānaka

Condon Scott Architects Ltd as Architects

Fulfilling the requirement for maximising the views while creating a sense of privacy within a built-up neighbourhood, The Heights’ H-shaped design provides outdoor living spaces on both sides of the upper level, so the homeowners can enjoy the Wānaka environment in all weathers, winds and seasons.

Externally the home has a striking and contemporary look that balances curves and angles in its architectural form. Ambro metal shingles fold around the upper level while the lower level features warm cedar weatherboards in a natural grey tone that complements the shingles and seats the home within its alpine environment.
A head turning feature, the dynamic, diagonal metal cladding continues indoors, lining one side of the internal staircase. While functionally working to angle the living space towards light and views, the sweeping front fascia also lends the home a certain je ne sais quoi when seen from the street.

For the clients, The Heights provides a future-proofed base for fun-filled holidays with the family with a spectacular Lake Wānaka backdrop, and is sure to be cherished for many generations.
