With this proposal, named“Kunstens Hus,” the nation would have a unifying and worthy National Museum, which is well-exposed, extroverted,and easily accessible. The overall concept features rationality and openness that provides flexibility for the differentfunctions. Moreover, the building consists of dramatic and challenging space sequences within a unique and verycompact building. The experience of the project should be characterized by the interaction and synergy between thesite’s distinctiveness, the different parts of the project, and the overall architectural expression. As a comprehensiveand unique building, the museum would thus emerge as a national icon.
