Hello Wood is a creative, professional and social program that seeks to teach people to think with their hands and to learn through experience. It consists of a Festival where the approach of students to construction is proposed, encouraging interaction between students and professionals creating a bond of community and social commitment.

Hello Wood integrates diverse fields of architecture, design and science; Build community and foster talent. All projects are shared, developed and built in a collaborative process. Students from different fields and institutions work together with professionals and academics.

The theme chosen for the second edition of Hello Wood Argentina was to build our own CON-TEXT. This was the theme that worked as a thread for the projects, the talks and all the activities of the program.

TIMSHEL PROJECT

Based on the theme of the festival, our proposal seeks to represent the freedom of man to transcend its context.

Timshel is the Hebrew word that means "you can". It represents that creative capacity of man, which despite its dependence on the world (tradition, knowledge, language, models), can choose its own path.

The installation proposes an exercise that consists of reviewing one's context to discern what is what empowers us and what is what limits us, and then decide how to act in that context.

This exercise materializes in a journey.

Our first context is interpreted as the DNA that each one carries inside. A piece woven in wood, old and rigid that we inherited from our ancestors. It is the first step.

Then there is our context of the world, on the plane of the earth, where we interact, grow and live. A circular framework of scars, history, smiles and bitterness. That context sometimes generates life and at other times it remains small or limits our gaze.

Our third element is a ladder that represents that freedom. That human condition that distinguishes us from other living beings. Climb and reach a new plane. To observe the context from another point of view.

Already finishing we can contemplate our own DNA from a new perspective and we can even modify it.

We ended the exercise returning to our day to day but having recognized and analyzed our own context and with the freedom to transcend it.
