An old bank that was located across from Tucson Medical Center was purchased with the hope of transforming it into a new outpatient pharmacy. Aspects of the bank layout allowed for the security requirements of a modern pharmacy without much renovation. A new clinic area was inserted into the unused portion of the building, which allows for real time patient exams when needed.
The exterior character of the mid century back was kept intact, with southwestern elements such as hand colored tiles, arches, and burnt adobe block. Some of these finishes came into the large lobby, where they were cleans and highlighted with new lighting and flooring. The final design allows the new pharmacy to engage with the community in ways a typical pharmacy could not.
