Tokyo Great Visual Head Office is designed taking a Japanese spirit of “Omotenashi”. “Omotenashi” is a Japanese traditional spirit of hospitality. The company has the theme, “Omotenashi” which is the traditional sprit established by Japanese for a long time, and it is applied to their work, branding and communication design.
Therefore, the spirit, ”Omotenashi”, should be taken into a concept of design of the office as well as the company uses it as their theme, and “Omotenashi” is embodied by creating the space associated with Japanese culture. A lobby and a conference room are constructed with the wooden frame. The mirror used on these walls performs the repeated reflection of the wooden frame, and it makes people feel the depth. And the seamless fluorescent lights are set up on the woodenframe. It illuminates the ceiling so that the frame looks better.
In addition, Japanese traditional materials, “kawara” which is Japanese tile, herb dyeing paper, and tatami mat, are also used to furniture and the floor. In a working room, some colors which represent Japanese culture are used on its wall and fittings. Although the working room tends to be simple and quiet, by using these materials and LED glass, the contrast of traditional and modern materials are aimed at simulating and developing the workers’ creativity in design.
The wooden frame is made of a Japanese cedar of Mount Koya in Wakayama. Wood is a sustainable resource. Using the domestic wood comes to activate forestry in Japan, and to defend and to grow the forest. It contributes to forest conservation by the activation of foresty. The wooden frame, material, and color that are associated with Japanese traditional architecture, represent “Omotenashi” and make people relax.
