Tower competition in Taichung proposal by Nicolas Laisné

A Light, Sustainable Tower as a symbol of Taichung

This proposed for the Taichung international competition is a higth tech building, producing energy, naturally cooled by the winds and offering suspended gardens with global views over the city.


The Tower is composed by three elements :


- Floors for offices, a museum , restaurants and an observatory. - Suspended gardens linked with every program offering to workers and tourists generous outside spaces - Pannels The tower is a light metalic structure composed by a combination of panels wicht support Electric production pannels


It is situated along the new park of Taichung old airport.


The Form of the Tower is adapted to its environement. On the Ground Floor the panels accompagny the street and are used as large scale information screen presenting what is happening in the Tower : activities, exhibitions ….


In the upper floors this panels are oriented to offer the Tower an efficient natural ventilation using the winds comming from the North. This surfaces are also covered with solar pannels, and the Tower would produce enought electricity to be energicaly self sufficient.


At the ground floor, the tower is open on both sides. The Lobby for Offices department of urban development acces is located on the Park Avenue 3. The Lobby for Museum and observatory access is open on the garden on the East Side of the building.


Each Lobby is connected to a vertical circulation composed by 3 elevators and two cisors stairs. One vertical circulation give acces to the offices, the other one to the Museum and observatory.


The tower’s interior is composed by a large variety of Spaces. This floors are all differents and are adapted to their fonctions.


The offices are located on the lower floors wich are the larger and the quickest to reach for workers who would come every day.


The Museum is located in the middle floors with large spaces with hight ceilings and interresting views on the skyline of Taichung.


The observatories are situated on the upper floors with fantasic views on the city and above the Dadu Montain. Suspended Gardens are linked to all thess programs and are protected from the wind with glass pannels. On this gardens, there are some Terrasse restaurants where the workers and visitors can apreciate the tempered air and skyviews.
