To address the growing grid congestion in the Utrecht region, Stedin is developing the new Oudenrijn / Utrecht North-West transformer station. This facility plays a key role in expanding and reinforcing the electricity network to meet the rapidly increasing demand for power from residential developments, business parks, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and sustainable energy initiatives. The installation of new transformers, switchgear, and cable connections significantly increases the capacity of the regional power grid and further enhances the security of supply for the Utrecht area.

For this project, Storax contributed its expertise in technical façade and ventilation solutions. Several Storax louvre wall systems were incorporated into the transformer station, including the ST-033-01 and ST-033-Close systems. These louvre walls combine high ventilation performance with protection against weather conditions while also providing the building with a high-quality architectural appearance. In addition, various transformer access doors were integrated into the design, including a specially developed folding wall that allows access for large technical installations and transformers.

As part of this project, Storax was responsible not only for the engineering and supply of the louvre wall systems, but also for the complete on-site installation. This integrated approach resulted in a high-quality, technically reliable solution that perfectly meets the functional requirements of modern energy infrastructure.
