Ultra Electronics specializes in the development of satellite radio technologies for military use. The company, which has been in existence for over 100 years, uses all its years of experience to create cutting-edge technologies and advances in the field of artificial intelligence.

The project involves updating their existing spaces. The aim is to redevelop under-utilized areas to offer engineers more space for the development of new projects. The project was spread over several years and worked on in two phases, one for each floor of the building.

Space planning was the starting point of the transformation, with particular attention paid to opening up the space and optimizing circulation between laboratory and production areas.

A collaborative approach was adopted to get the pulse of employees for their desires and needs for their new space. An internal committee involving different areas of the company provided input on the concept, furniture and aesthetic choices. This collaboration was applied in creative workshops and brainstorming sessions.

The design concept is inspired by an amalgam of past and future, reflecting the company's 100+ year history and its focus on innovation. The timeline thus became a conceptual idea worked into the juxtaposition of materials and the choice of finishes. The space features a mix of warm and modern materials to mark the duality of past successes and current technological excellence.

The new space begins at the entrance, a new, modern customer lobby. As you walk into the rest of the space, materials such as wood and metal are used to symbolize the meeting of tradition and the future. The new museum area is immediately after the reception area, opening up the discussion of the company's achievements and where they're heading. From there, the work areas were redesigned with new furniture to allow each person to concentrate. Lighting was completely redesigned to bring brightness to every zone.
