University of Evansville

Serving as the "front porch" for the new University of Evansville Ridgway University Center, the University Center Plaza is designed to accommodate daily student activities, including places to eat, study, and visit with friends. The plaza contains an appealing mix of clay brick, granolithic concrete, limestone detailing, planting beds, and a raised lawn area. The flexible space gracefully accommodates the ebb and flow of students throughout the day, as well as University-sponsored special events, student fairs and concerts.

The project also includes a new eighteen-foot wide brick pedestrian walkway, extending from the University Center Plaza through the campus. This walkway links the new center with existing campus buildings, and creates a strong north-south campus connection. As the corridor travels south from the center, the paving patterns change, relating to the different spaces and buildings adjacent to the walk. The pedestrian path is further emphasized through a rhythmic pattern of site furnishings, light poles, banners, plantings and custom vine trellises.
