VERTICAL VILLAGE CEDRE BLANC, 33 flats

This project in the Saint Anne district of Marseille takes a look at the surrounding scales. It is a work of composition with the existing heritage as a real desire for dialogue between existing architecture made up of pavilions and country houses and the new programme. We imagined how to take into account the multiple scales and templates present in the nearby context as a singularity and a richness for the project. The architecture fits into this context in a dialogue with the scale of the neighbouring blocks of flats and housing estates.

This transition is conveyed by the project, which takes on both scales: the more regular, urban scale, and the suburban scale through the volumes of the top two storeys, which are treated like houses on the roof. As well as proposing a new scale, we also worked on the idea of a seam with the surrounding plots. In this way, the project, particularly in its relationship with neighbouring boundaries, pays close attention to the levels and continuity of the buildings and landscaping in order to encourage optimum integration into its environment and to extend and strengthen the local ecosystem.
