Located in the vibrant heart of Patiala, Punjab, Willkommen is a 5,000 sq. ft. quick service restaurant designed to elevate the fast-dining experience through thoughtful spatial design and material expression. Situated on the ground floor of a three-storey building, the restaurant seats 80 guests and blends the efficiency of a QSR with the comfort and atmosphere of a modern café.
The design embraces a contemporary-industrial aesthetic, defined by an exposed ceiling finished in matte black to reveal the structural framework and services above. This openness enhances the sense of height while setting a bold tonal backdrop for the warm materials below. The color palette combines black, concrete-grey tiles, and white oak wood, accented with Moroccan tiles that bring subtle visual texture and energy to the space.
At the heart of Willkommen lies a 20-foot-long counter, serving as both a functional hub and a visual anchor. Clad in white oak veneer with black metal detailing, it is complemented by a skirting of patterned tiles that connects seamlessly with the restaurant’s flooring. Behind the counter, an exposed brick wall forms a striking backdrop, introducing warmth, authenticity, and a tactile counterpoint to the sleek finishes. The open kitchen concept reinforces transparency and engagement, allowing diners to observe the rhythm of preparation.
The space is organized into segregated seating zones, balancing flexibility and intimacy. Movable chairs and tables coexist with fixed booth seating upholstered in black leather, accommodating both quick meals and extended gatherings. A mix of concrete and wood-finish flooring subtly defines these zones without physical partitions, giving the interior a natural spatial flow.
Lighting design enhances the restaurant’s dynamic character—linear LEDs integrated within the black grid ceiling emphasize geometry and direction, while hanging pendants cast warm, inviting light over dining areas. Together, these elements craft a mood that transitions effortlessly from day to evening.
