A single-story dwelliing in a quiet district of Bordeaux. The immediate surroundings is onthe ground floor plus attic space under a tiled roof. Our project seeks first and foremost to achieve perfect integration with these places. Hence, the building is given the delicate addition of a timber box daintily placed higher than the neighbouring roofs. This simple parallelepiped with clean lines and built of light-coloured timber breaks with and, at the same time, blends into its surroundings. The raised section consistsof a large living roomwhich opens onto a south-facing terrace enabling light to pour right along the entire length of the interior. The terrace’s panels can be opened to provide limitless views across the city in all directions. Vertical strips of timber protect the west-facing windows from the sun. The plank and façade structure is made of prefabricated wooden panels, allowing quick onsite assembly. Timber cladding gives the final touch to the whole building.
