Located in a quiet village in Yongin, Y-HOUSE is a newly built detached house where the interior design focuses on harmonizing with nature. Following the client's wish for their grandchildren to freely play and experience nature, the space has been transformed into one that embraces the scents of the outdoors.
The interior was designed to reflect an eco-friendly atmosphere by highlighting the inherent scents and textures of wood. The client, considering health, selected natural jade marble flooring, which was carefully paired with wooden materials to create a rustic and serene space. The goal was to design an environment of comfort, inspired by nature.
On the first floor, which is used by the entire family, a large window along the wall captures the view of the garden. Natural light, changing with the seasons and time of day, illuminates the open space. The design revolves around a wide 5.3-meter kitchen island in the open kitchen and dining space, while a custom home bar with pocket folding doors satisfies both practicality and sophisticated aesthetics.
Wooden materials were used for the stairs and handrails to add warmth and a homely touch. The second floor, which will be used as the client’s study and workspace, emphasizes the calm atmosphere created by the wood. Both the ceiling and floor were finished with wood, while L-shaped windows maximize natural light and the view. In the master bedroom, hidden doors and a panoramic window combine minimalism with a natural view.
This space, where the long-cherished dream of a "home filled with the scent of wood" has been realized, has transformed into a peaceful retreat and living space where materials, light, and nature harmonize beautifully. We hope this space, which embodies the value of a life connected to nature, will become a special experience in everyday life.
