The project for ZDeli Sandwiches, a hamburger joint in São Paulo that has collected the most national awards in recent years, was the result of a generous renovation of a corner property that previously housed a restaurant.

Despite the similarity of use, the old property had characteristics that did not fit the needs of the new development and because of this the architectural proposal designed a more robust intervention that started with the structural reorganization based on 5 new axes of pillars in concert that in association with metal beams began to create free spans to accommodate the new operation.

Structurally reorganized, the building began to receive an important group of spaces for food preparation and storage on the upper floor, as well as bathrooms for employees and customers. This upper volume, which leans against the sides of the building to receive the program mentioned, is intentionally detached from the main façade and the back to create generous openings of zenithal light. It is a response to the need to increase the relationship with the external environment, something that also happens through a lateral opening in the restaurant hall, which opens onto a village of houses located in the Itaim neighborhood. The relationship with the urban environment is completed with a covered terrace occupied by tables for those who want to be inside and outside.
