Water farm is a modern off-grid family home by Studio Bark for London leavers moving back to the family farm. The Paragraph 84 house was designed to nurture the needs of a young family of five, with strong historic ties to the site and off-grid living. The result is a unique and functional five bedroom off-grid home. The home is on the edge of Dedham Vale National Landscape, and has been designed with sensitivity to local character. The client being an active social person came to us with only one major requirement that he needed a home which could help him in switching between his social and family life and enjoy his home in a way that would transmute it to a resort like environment. For a family strength of 5, he desired to have 3 Bedrooms along with 2 Guest Bedrooms, Formal and Informal Living and certain recreational amenities like swimming pool, gym and party lawn. The project of this farm was born from the owners' dream of building a house inspired by the 18th-century Minas Gerais (state in Brazil) farmhouses. The office initially proposed a version of the building with a more modern concept, but with a two-sloped roof covered with ceramic tiles. However, during the project development, the client had the opportunity to acquire materials from two old farmhouses that were demolished. Windows, doors, and floors from 1815 were then incorporated into the project. Perched atop a hill overlooking a remarkable valley with Frederick Church’s Olana in the distance, this 1761 Dutch stone farmhouse was restored after peeling back years of vinyl and Formica clad additions.  This hidden jewel on a working farm along the Hudson Valley was transformed into a weekend home for New Yorkers, while the farm and original barns were maintained on the property. The significant age of the original Colonial farmhouse is no mystery. The iron tie rods that hold the roof together spell out 1761, signaling the year the home was built. This weekend house for the shah family is situated in the outskirts of Bharuch, Gujarat. Within the dense 50-Year-old Chiku plantations which is the main attraction and the challenge while designing the house.Total farm land is about 8 Lakh Sq. Ft out of that we have selected 1,50,00 Sq. Ft of area which is having more than 30 fully grown chiku trees. The house layout is planned in a way that one can feel it is within the chiku abode with minimum damage to the existing treasure. We have planned in a way that minimum trees would be damaged. Here in this house, we have tried to play with metal tube as a structural system along with exposed brick work.
