This Pied-à-terre apartment had to contain a multifunctional room in the middle that is at once part of the living room, a study and a guest room. It’s a very deep space which has the unique feature of having windows on three sides, but not a lot of them. It also has the entrance all the way at the back-corner.  Caption As the position of the entrance made it necessary to make a pretty long hallway, we made a couple of interventions to alleviate the longitudinal space. The canteen designed for Zambon Group is the first intervention for the development of the so-called “Open Zone - Centre of Excellence for Innovation and Technology”, in the Municipality of Bresso inside the Parco Nord Milano. The restaurant spreads over one floor raised above the ground level, houses 220 seats and serves up to 600 meals per day. The building is developed on a square plan of 30 m per side for a total height of 6 m above ground level. The current trend in The Netherlands is to recycle existing buildings rather than to replace them. In the old city of Leiden Mirck Architecture has designed such a rejuvenation for a 15th century landmark canal house. In the 1960s the building’s interior was effectively destroyed, which sad event opened interesting perspectives for the building’s redevelopment. It’s fun to go to the dentist. Mostly you don’t expect a dental practice to be warm and cosy. But that’s exactly what Declerck-Daels, Architecten concieved for this small building in Bruges. Clearly this client didn’t want a clean medical room. The former practice was installed in the garage, next to the house. The front yard seemed the ideal place to build a new volume. A small infill, rather than building on a new parcel. The new construction doesn’t hide the house behind. The higher part is just a stretch of the right neighbours’ volume.
