House of Panes

House of Panes by Matthew Giles Architects is a sensitive yet striking reimagining of an Edwardian terraced home in Muswell Hill. The design masterfully balances the home’s historic fabric with a bold, light-filled intervention, creating a contemporary living environment that celebrates both heritage and modernity. The homeowners, George and Alice, approached the project with a strong design sensibility and a clear vision. Alice, a former vintage furniture dealer, brought an eclectic mix of pieces to the home, enriching its character with curated furnishings that speak to different eras. Now back at university while raising their children, she was deeply engaged in shaping a home that nurtures both study and family life. Their brief... More

Mihe Hall

The Han Chang’an City Ruins area is located in the northwestern part of Xi’an, which is particularly conspicuous on satellite maps in the dark of night and surrounded by the bright lights of the main city. The farm’s initial buildings, Mihe Auditorium and Leban Restaurant, are the first to be built. The original layout of the auditorium was incompatible with the new functional needs of a temporary light processing plant built in modern red brick, and the original renovation plan changed... More

Ascendis Medical Office/Warehouse

This landmark project is situated on a prime corner of the Boundary Park Industrial Park development in Northriding, Johannesburg. The site location, coupled with the tenant’s large staff compliment, led to a somewhat unconventional office to warehouse ratio of 60:40 instead of the more typical 90:10 ratio. 'This model is seemingly becoming more common nowadays with a shrinking global economy and improvements in technology. Many large companies with distribution facilities are downsizing and consolidating their operations,' says Alessio Lacovig of AOJ Architecture & Interiors. The area aspires to become a new porous and attractive lung at the service of the community, connected to the urban center and nei... More
