Offroadhouse is our place to slow down, reconnect with nature, and return to ourselves. It allows us to contemplate the landscape and the changing seasons through everyday activities, transforming ordinary moments into rituals. The project was created from a used shipping container purchased from a storage yard for decommissioned containers no longer fit to sail across the seas and oceans of the world. Recycling and reusing an existing structure naturally aligned with the broader principles of the project. In a small street in a lovely neighborhood of Rennes, this micro-architecture now stands in place of a dilapidated garage. Casa Gotarrendura is developed within an ecological residential complex, surrounded by more than 1200 hectares of forest. The single-family house project is based on the premise of fully respecting the existing vegetation, making it part of the project and a crucial element throughout the entire house.
