Our approach seeks to add to the distinctive architecture for which Lord’s has become renowned, a place where historic and contemporary buildings of the highest quality constitute the global Home of Cricket. The earlier C&E stands, at the ground's Nursery (eastern) End, had become inadequate to the needs of modern spectators, with restricted sightlines in the lower tiers and upper tiers entirely exposed to the elements. In the heart of the Hengqin Island in Zhuhai, China, sits an urban village. Two man-made lakes mark the entrance to the village and a community center in between the two water bodies will connect the residents, the environment and the happenings.  Inspired by the water flow, the brick-and-timber building will house major public spaces on the ground floor, including an art gallery, a community clinic and event spaces. A new sports pavilion for a netball club, a football club, and a team handball club. One building for three different sports clubs, each with their own character. The Municipality of Utrecht (the Netherlands) wanted a characteristic building that emanated comradery, but would also be distinct for each club.
