The office occupies a complete floor of a building in a busy corner in Barrio de Salamanca, one of Madrid´s best neighborhoods.We wanted to bring natural light throughout the space. We decided to bring the individual office boxes and meeting rooms towards the façade and enclose them using only a very light iron and glass wall. The open office spaces are located at the end of each building wing.We repeated the iron and glass wall structure but exchanged the glass with a perforated metal sheet to give privacy to the meeting rooms and private offices. The client, a public institution in the Austrian region, Styria, needed a fresh concept for the History Museum’s permanent exhibitions and its entrance, housed within a significant historic building at Graz’s city center. The task was to present an enormous number of objects acquired since the Middle Ages and multimedia archives of the 20th century in an historic space that required careful treatment. The adaptation of the museum entrance required a solution that subtly enhance the entrance attraction of a previously very hidden and dark atrium. The house, located in Calders (a small village in the centre of Catalonia), is the new home to a couple with two children. The site is at the end of the village with the natural park of “Sant Llorenç del Munt i l´Obac” just in front. They requested to include an office, common living space, three private rooms, two bathrooms and a garage. The site has a slope of one floor. All the houses of the neighbourhood have the garage in the ground floor next to the garden and the living space area in the upper floors. Our decision was to make the opposite. The newly opened 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge in Brooklyn’s iconic Dumbo neighborhood features a touch of greenery in the guest rooms and public spaces, bringing the outdoors inside. Most notably, this eco-luxury hotel boasts a 25-foot, custom green wall in the lobby made from Banker Wire’s wire mesh pattern I-21 to create a woven fixture screen and custom welded wire mesh hanging baskets for vegetation. The ensemble of buildings designed for the Protestant Brückenschlag parish in Cologne comprises a small chapel for private prayer, a bell tower and the church itself. These are grouped around a raised lawn that is defined by a ring of mature trees. This contemplative entrance situation also provides an ideal setting for the congregation’s outdoor activities. It is reached from the street up a shallow flight of steps marked by a prominent bell tower. For many years now, the Hunke family has been operating a successful jewelleryand optician business within the inner city of Ludwigsburg, near Stuttgart. In order to retain their leading position in the region’s market and to lay a foundation for future generations, a consolidation of the jewellery, watch and optician departments was required. Three aging family-owned buildings were transformed into a sustainable and future-compliant retail store. One of the issues that emerged during the design process of this building was how to insert it in a peaceful rural landscape and how it interacts with the animals living in such a context. The concept of this project is to suspend a thin cover on a natural hill, equip it with furniture and in this way create a place where people and animals can meet under its shade. The facade is made of transparent acrylic sheets on all four sides of the building, allowing the residents to get closer to nature while keeping the house warm due to this material’s high thermal insulation capability. YA PAN Japanese bistro is a new culinary hybrid that joins the Japanese izakaya with a western bistro. In both, people get together in an inviting and informal atmosphere to enjoy dishes from the traditional kitchen associated with their culture. The culinary experience at YA PAN is an expression of Chef Yuval Ben Neriah's personal interpretation to how these two worlds interact, and the design is yet another reflection of this marriage. The desire to create an informal atmosphere together with the space's physical trait being long narrow and tall, resulted in a layout of one sweeping stroke in the form of a central bar. 31-May-2016 Following an international design competition JWA and NADAAA were appointed as architects to design the new Melbourne School of Design building for the University of Melbourne. The University embraced the unusual creative relationship proposed between the two practices as collaborative design partners across all aspects of the project. Completed in 2015, the Stade de Soccer de Montreal is an award-winning addition to Montreal’s sports culture. The facility is situated along the edge of a former quarry that is currently in the process of being transformed into a nearly 500–acre ecological park – soon to be the largest urban park in Montreal. The House ́Balkenhol` is a prominent landmark in the urban fabric of Buchen, a fortified medieval town in North Baden, Germany. The structure, built in 1824, served as the town apothecary until the late 1950s. After the relocation of the pharmacy, the local savings bank purchased the structure and utilized it as a rental property until the end of the last century. Due to the age of the building and methods utilized in its construction, the house required an extensive renovation, and stood empty for nearly 15 years.
