Casa D

This residential transformation project reinterprets a 1960s house through a careful strategy of structural reuse, volumetric clarity, and spatial densification. Situated on a corner plot within a heterogeneous urban fabric of varying building scales and typologies, the intervention preserves the footprint and foundational concrete frame of the existing house while extending vertically with a lightweight steel structure engineered to withstand seismic loads. Giorgos Sfakianakis The architectural language is defined by a sculptural massing of opaque facades and calibrated openings. Responding to the proximity of taller neighboring buildings and the challenge of privacy, the house assumes a monolithic presence. To mediate light and spat... More

The Gap House

A carefully crafted home for a couple and their family looking to slow down on Long Beach Island. Located on a particularly narrow stretch of the barrier island, the house responds to the site’s unique positioning to maximize expansive views towards both the bay and the ocean. The site is situated three lots back from the oceanfront and bound directly to the west by the historic Long Beach Island Fishing Club -- whose facilities and parking area occupy the entire depth of the block along the site’s western boundary. The Fishing Club building is set back from the street front, exposing the entire western facade of the Gap House to views of the bay that would otherwise typically be restricte... More

House near Poznań

Working on this project was exciting, because we rarely have the opportunity to design buildings with a flat roof, due to the requirements of local plans. Here, the location allowed the use of modern forms, and this was also what our clients expected. With the investors, from the beginning we felt that we were on the same page, and we really liked the vision of the house they were talking about. TRZY.BE ARCHITEKCI The plot of land on which we designed also had the advantage that it bordered directly with a forest, which, on the one hand, was a limitation, because we had to maintain the distance from the tree line specified in the plan, but we also knew that it was in this direction that we wanted to open the interiors, so that from al... Wildflower

As construction begins on a pristine site, it can be painful to watch the earthwork. Carpets of native grasses and flowers are ripped up and certain trees inevitably must be removed to make way for a new house. Andrew Pogue Photography In the case of Wildflower House, in Washington’s Methow Valley, the site's unspoiled meadows and forest demanded a careful approach. This included hiring a native plant specialist, whose team restored lush vegetation to areas damaged during construction. In addition, the surrounding forest was thinned of small-diameter trees according to "firewise" best practices. The result is a healthy and beautiful site that remains hospitable to abundant wildlife.  Andrew Pogue Photography Nestled t... More

Sunny Villa

This modern villa was built in southern Greater Poland at the request of a young entrepreneur who liked modern architecture. The building has several zones: day, night, recreation and relaxation. Caption Caption A very large plot surrounded by meadows creates unlimited possibilities for creating new forms. TEN

Our clients came to us when the house walls were already built up and the partitions were about to be installed. The architecture project had rather conditional plan and we asked to stop construction before we designed our own solution. It turned out to be a perfect moment. We redesigned the space, created the conception and even suggested to change position of windows on the second floor: the implementation phaseallowed us to do that. We concentrated on improving all the solutions that were put into the architecture of this house. We stressed the axis, aligned all lines: one space flows into another and appears as its' logical continuation. Kitchen, dining and living areas are combined here, but they are on different levels. House near Mielec

The architecture of the single-family house near Mielec design by the MEEKO Architects is a sophisticated combination of mixing tradition and modernity in the form of a house. This is an expression between archetypal form of a barn with a gable roof placed on a modernist and minimalist cube-shaped solid in the ground floor.   ONI Studio - Maciej Jeżyk The two parts of the house differ not only in terms of color, shape and function, but also in terms of finishing materials. The durable, stylish and timeless anthracite Ruukki Classic standing seam sheet in the upper part fits perfectly with the geometry of the house. The simple gable roof and the façade covered with sheet metal gives a uniform and harmonious impression... More
