Sûreté du Québec Police Station, Waterloo

Located on a sloping site between an industrial district and a residential neighborhood, the new Sûreté du Québec police station in Waterloo is conceived as a compact, specialized civic building whose roof functions as a fifth elevation. The program brings together administrative areas, officer services, investigation spaces, and a detention sector, each requiring strict security, confidentiality, and acoustic separation. The building settles into the topography with a restrained street facade while opening toward the landscape. Developed by Cimaise Architecture and STGM in consortium, the design introduces an inclined roof with a folded geometry inspired by the mountain chains of Québec’s Eastern Townships... More

cozimory

1.    It was once a small police station guarding a quiet neighborhood in Bangbae-dong. After being vacant for years, the building stood cold and lifeless, with an old protected tree quietly enduring beside it. When we first encountered the site, the tree became our starting point for imagination. What if this rugged concrete structure could coexist with the living presence of the tree? What if we could create a space that felt like a small, warm forest within the city? This is how Cozimori began. Caption The original building had a dark, disconnected interior and little relationship with the outside. One of the biggest challenges was how to open up the closed-off structure while preserving the existing frame, and how to est... More

Police Station Hilversum

Gortemaker Algra Feenstra has designed and realized the new accommodation for the police, the joint emergency control room of Central Netherlands, and the Interregional Coordination Centre (IRCC) in the heart of Hilversum. Transparency, connection, and a human scale were key principles in the design. Lucas van der Wee A New Police Building in the Heart of HilversumThe location, framed by the surrounding streets Groest, Spuisteeg, and Kampstraat, is surrounded by mixed-use buildings and shops. To make optimal use of the available space, an underground parking garage was constructed beneath the building and the inner courtyard. The compact and efficient layout of the building contributes to a functional and safe working environment for... More

District Office Police

The new police building is robust and transparent at the same time. This is in line with the police's wish to create a building that simultaneously can be accessible and safe. We do not limit ourselves to the design of the facade with the large windows facing the street. We are also intro- ducing two larger spaces in the building, which are shielded on the one hand, but also open to the environment. The landscape office at the back, the shared working environment for the police staff, has large windows facing the garden. We introduce colours... More

WuduMate Mobile

The WuduMate Mobile is a mobile appliance for safe and comfortable wudu. Zegel

The building is situated on the corner of Zegelstraat and Turnhoutsebaan, the latter being a major access road to the city of Antwerp. The building comprises a mixed programme with offices for district police, residences and the entrance to a metro station. The metro station greatly reduces the possibility of bringing down loads on the corner of the site, a fact which defines the project’s tectonic form. The plinth – of the same height as the neighboring buildings – comprises a Vierendeel beam which spans the metro station and distributes the load of the tower volume located on the corner. The façade is a light shell made of aluminium which tempers the support structure’s exuberant character while lending the... More

Etterbeek City Hall

Context and ambition
The new Etterbeek City Hall is located in front of a main road, on Casernes Avenue, in the context of an urban development initiated by the commune on the site called « the Hunting Gardens ». It’s an exceptional opportunity to renew a neighbourhood, a part of the city, and also an opportunity to create a dynamic image for an urban commune.     Site plan   We opted for a clear and open layout for the buildings, favouring lines of communication between the existing neighbourhood and the site’s new development. The communal house was positioned on the corner between Casernes Avenue and Beckers Street for maximum visibility. A pedestrian path that crosses the project was proposed in order to link the future park with the... More

Charzykowy Police Station / Posterunek Policji Cha

Building is located next to the Charzykowski Lake. This unique location became our inspiration and motivated us to search for innovative solutions. Exisiting building from the 60`s was in bad condition and needed complex renovation. Idea of using galvanized architectural net came out after our careful observation of water. Water sparkling in the sun was our main inspiration and reference for the facade. We decided to use galvanised PerfoAndromeda net to achieve metallised effect. Building is open to the water - huge windows on the western facade are helping to monitor the promenade and public beach. Old, grey plasters were replaced with Equitone Tectiva panels in grey and beige colour adding a distinctive and official lo... More

BESTUURLIJK KNOOPPUNT (ADMINISTRATIVE JUNCTION)

When designing the ‘Bestuurlijk Knooppunt’ (City Hall) Zwijndrecht, the design focussed mainly on the end-user perspective. Today's society is becoming increasingly democratic. Citizens are being empowered. The boundary lines between officials and citizens are becoming blurred. This changing society demands a flexible administration: transparent and open. These qualities are reflected in Zwijndrecht’s City Hall. EGM created a clear, user friendly, transparent and open building where citizens and employees can easily find their way. The starting point for the design was to renew and improve municipal services, from both the interior and from the architectural perspectives. Next to a new city hall the design includes a police station, a car p... More
