CRISTIANO VIANA APARTMENT

Cristiano Viana apartment is an old apartment that needed a complete renovation. Talking to the clients, we understood that they liked to entertain friends and came to the conclusion that a kitchen integrated with the living room would work well, expanding and uniting the spaces. So, we opened up the kitchen to the living room and designed a generous island that connects the spaces. In addition, one of the clients' requests was for a wine cellar in the living room to display and store their collection. Thus, one of the guiding points of the project was the wine cellar built into the woodwork panel, which also has a hidden door that gives access to the private area of the house. Vivienda en el Cabañal

This time, we sneak in a home in El Cabañal, on the top floor of a building from the late seventies which is surrounded by pitched roofs and courtyards. Almost like an intruder, it is erected oblivious to the traditional construction methods of the district. There we find metal beams and pillars supporting slabs made of concrete joists and ceramic vaults. A classic from that era. Germán Cabo Germán Cabo In this little corner of the city, a young couple wish to bring light and joy into this changing space. With this purpose in mind, we embark on a project with an almost square layout. The windows are mainly oriented towards the south and the west, but also facing east and the sea. This will allow us to enjoy a... More

Parasite Habitat

The  apartment  is  designed  for  two  people  as  a unique space with an embedded bedroom – this method is unique and consists of forming a new text inside the phrase we are used to. Relja Ivanic Relja Ivanic Relja Ivanic The bedroom plays the role of a parasite, while everything  else  inside  the  apartment  is positioned in relation to the intruder. The tame pest, at the same time unclothed and surrounded, becomes an accomplice, changing its identity, but not its function. It  plays  with  the  structure  inside  which  it  is placed. It is emphasized, yet it does not stand out.  Cherry Art Hub Rel... More

FC APARTMENT

Designed to be the new home of a young lawyer, the walls that divided the 52.00 m²  apartment were removed to make room for the new layout that is divided into: home office, living room, balcony, dining room, kitchen, and bedroom. “When you have a small footage, every inch matters”. Isabela Mayer Isabela Mayer The starting point of the FC apartment was undoubtedly the redistribution of the layout. Caption Caption “How many functions can you add in the same environment? We had the challenge of adding a living room, balcony, home office, dining and making it all work together in the same social area.” Caption Caption The door that gave access to the bedroom was relocated to th... Apartamento VITA

The young couple of owners of this apartment were looking for a renovation that would make the space both spacious and cozy, with the least possible intervention but at the same time with the punctual replacement of materials. Joana França Joana França We then focused on the contrast between colors and textures as a guiding element in the design, in order to also help in identifying each of the spaces. We kept the same minimalist language in all the rooms, united through a dark blue corridor that guarantees a surprise and a return to bright and spacious spaces every time you open a new door. Joana França The dining room has a large stone panel as a backdrop, with built-in LED lighting created exclusivel... More

Apartamento FAZE

The focus of the renovation of this apartment located in Brasília’s Plano Piloto was the reconfiguration of the social areas, in order to improve the relationship between the different spaces and equate the transition between them and the kitchen area, so that they can be isolated or integrated according to the different user needs. Joana França For this, we removed all the original walls that previously divided these spaces and identified the original pillars and structural beams of the building, in order to reorganize the rooms creating clear and well-defined axes that enabled a better spatial organization. Joana França We kept apparent these structural elements, recovering and treating the concrete,... More

Habitation à La Roqueta

The refurbished home is in a Valencia city centre building. Built around 1900, it has wooden beams and joists, ceramic vaults and solid brick walls. After 1900, the building underwent full refurbishment in order to reinforce the original structure adding a metal reinforcement structure. Germán Cabo Our refurbishment will aim to bring all those hidden ribs of the building out into the open. Elements that for a long time were generally placed behind a false wattle ceiling due to the little aesthetic value they held. However, times and aesthetics have changed, and today we find no shame in showing them off as they are. We will take out the false ceiling and bring them into the light. Germán Cabo The popular inclusion... More

Appartement à Patraix

This 80 m² property was built in 1930, with highly compartmentalised spaces and inner rooms with no ventilation to the outside. This home in the Patraix district, to the south of Valencia, required a refurbishment that would adapt to the young couple’s reality. The starting point was therefore defined as extending spaces to enhance natural light and cross-ventilation within the home. Our proposal is based on an architectural design that combines all spaces, making them more permeable and better connected. It seeks a wood-covered element to unify the home, featuring from west to east, and which contains much of the programme. It thus reinforces the idea of a simple utilitarian element and a joint open space. Caption This vo... More

HOUSE | CASA EN GORGOS

Casa en Gorgos is presented as a comprehensive housing reform project in the city of Valencia. With more than 120 m2 of usable area and a distribution enhanced to the maximum, the clients were clear that they were looking to gain amplitude and light to the whole house. For this, the team of architects of Destudio has designed a house designed to be lived in, enjoyed and adapted to the needs of today. Germán Cabo Germán Cabo The post Covid era has led us to rethink the spaces we inhabit, being essential to design a house completely open to the outdoors and illuminated by natural light. Ventilation is another key factor in this project, so it has been decided to recover the original balcony of the house. The balcony i... More

HOUSE | VIVIENDA REINO DE VALENCIA |

With some 120m2 and 3.20 meters high, this housing project provided us with many possibilities for improvement and knowing how to take advantage of every meter was essential. Finally we decided to distribute it in a living room and integrated kitchen, two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a master bedroom. This master bedroom has one of the bathrooms en suite and an integrated dressing room, which allows total privacy for this stay. One of the main objectives was to create wide and luminous spaces, allowing the natural light of the facade to bathe all the day area of the house. For this reason, we decided to eliminate the original partition walls and opt for a single living-dining room space. The client wanted the kitchen to be integrated with... More

HOUSE | CASA SAMANIEGO |

Housing located in a building in Ciutat Vella, in the historical center of the city of Valencia. Its rehabilitation was carried out in 2004, when it was conceived as what it is today. Our intervention is mainly based on two premises: to gain light and spaciousness, as well as to respect the pre-existence. For this integral reform project, we sought to integrate the kitchen with the living-dining room, thus creating a single, much larger room. With the materiality we gained a greater sensation of light. With all this we have managed to gain space, light and a feeling of spaciousness. Reserving the rest of the rooms for the night area, bathrooms and bedrooms. During the construction phase we found the large beam and original wooden beams fr... More

HOUSE | CASA BAZÁN |

With about 200m2 of built area, the possibilities for this comprehensive reform project were very wide. The house from the 70's, was with the original finishes and distribution. Therefore, the main idea of this project was to adapt the whole space to the new needs of the clients, with two clear objectives: to gain lighting and interior quality. The spaces are distributed clearly differentiating the day area from the night area with a more intimate character. These spaces are articulated by means of a generous corridor in which the materiality of the access furniture is taken care of, as well as the lighting. In this corridor we conceal by means of integrated panels the courtesy toilet and the access to the kitchen, centering all the attent... More

Casa Sophie

Apartment Refurbishment in Gran de Gràcia, BarcelonaThe project involves the complete refurbishment of a 160-square-metre apartment, in one of the most important axis of the city. The original plan layout corresponds to the building typology with load-bearing walls parallel to the facade and the rooms positioned to each side of a long corridor. The owners were attracted by the apartment’s traditional typology with its exceptional illumination by the three patios. It had not undergone any fundamental change during its 100-year life. The design was based on the idea to highlight the apartment’s unique atmosphere by preserving the original decorative ceiling mouldings and the original patterned cement tiled floor. In the common areas the original...
