Incorporating passive design principles at its core, Breeze House is an intermediate terrace that prioritizes natural daylighting, ventilation, comfort and contemporary living for its users.  Nature is invited into the house through provision of a 1.2m width void for the site’s entire length. The project consists of a three-story family apartment building, featuring two flats with three bedrooms each and a top-floor apartment with three bedrooms and a mezzanine level. All apartments offer two ensuite rooms and a master bedroom, along with open-plan kitchen, dining, and living areas. The rooftop garden is accessible to all residents, creating a shared outdoor space. A semi-detached home in Toronto's picturesque Little Italy neighbourhood once felt too small for its owners. Prior to the renovation, the homeowners’ ability to host dinner parties was limited due to size of the living, dining, and kitchen spaces; their extensive art collection was crowded and hidden by poor lighting, and narrow hallways and rooms inhibited even the size of furniture they could bring into the home. A sinuous path unfolds through dense, tall vegetation, interrupted by a monolithic planting of Mesquite and Plumbago, revealing for the first time a large structure with a floating roof and shade.
