Colorbel – for colourful façades Black is not the only colour! AGC’s Colorbel is a toughened glass coated on one side with an opaque layer of enamel. This enamel is available in 30 standard colours and six metallic colours. Six extra colours are also available in the Colorbel range, the so-called CMs. CM stands for ‘Color Matching’ and these colours match six Stopray vision-glazing tints, to enable you to achieve a uniform glass façade.

How it works The Colorbel enamel is baked into the surface of the glass at a high temperature. This makes Colorbel glazing highly resistant to the chemical effects of its environment. Tests have shown that the mechanical resistance of the enamel is as high as that of toughened glass. As for the colours, they remain stable over long periods of time, so that the durability of the enamel colour is guaranteed for a period of 10 years. Colorbel CM uses two specially developed materials: the coating and the enamel on the coating.

Range Colorbel can be used in both single and double (shadow box design) glazing. The Colorbel range is available in 30 standard colours and six metallic colours. The Colorbel enamels can be applied to clear or coloured float glass, as well as to the Stopsol coatings Classic and Silverlight. The Colorbel/Stopsol Supersilver combination is also available, but in this case the enamel is not applied to the coating. Some of the Imagin patterned glazings can also be enamelled. The Colorbel CM range comes in six Colorbel CM colours to match six Stopray vision glasses, and is available in thicknesses of 6 mm and 8 mm. The maximum dimensions for a 6 mm pane are 1,800 x 2,800 mm, and 1,800 x 3,600 mm for an 8 mm pane. Performance Colorbel needs to be installed in front of a dark opaque surface to ensure the building presents a uniform appearance. Pale colours must be installed against a uniform background, and if that background is coated with adhesive, the glue must not show. The enamelled side must be turned towards the base glass. A variety of fitting methods can be used in outdoor applications, including rebates, clamping, bonding and screwing. Colorbel can also be used in ventilated and unventilated spandrels and insulation panels.

Colorbel can be used for a variety of indoor and outdoor applications. When used in spandrels, Colorbel conceals the opaque components and structures of the façade, and in combination with vision glass can be used to create an all-glass façade. Depending on the colours used, a harmonious or contrasting effect can be achieved Black is not the only colour! AGC’s Colorbel is a toughened glass coated on one side with an opaque layer of enamel.
