The ancient weaving mill Luigi Bevilacqua is very proud to present a new and extremely refined velvets collection. These two elegant and tasteful velvets - Griccia and Grottesche -are woven on jacquard looms of the early 1900 that use special and traditional techniques that make these velvets similar to a painting, real pieces of art.Designs of velvets Griccia and Grottesche, copied from two original samples of Bevil acqua historical archive, have their origin in two different historical periods.Griccia design is the perfect reproduction of the decorative type of Reinassance a gricciavelvets, produced in Venice around XV-XVI century and used in aristocratic clothing and furnishings.
Grottesche is a refined combination of styles typical of the late XIX century. The central compositional structure and the grotesque elements are borrowed from XVI centuryi conography, but enhanced by Baroque architectural details and naturalistic Rococo elements.
