Total gut renovation of a lower level rear apartment. Project objective was to create an energized and welcoming living space. As the apartment was dark, careful consideration was given to the “borrow light element” such as translucent glass, high polished glass tile and removal of walls were possible. LED downlights with neutral color light rendering, together with light colored materials were used to reflect light source both artificial and natural. With limited budget and time, inexpensive materials was used in a smart way to create a clean line esthetic balanced with custom stain of existing wood floor.
