Aayam
Aayam meaning dimension celebrates the many layers that transform a house into a home.
This residence began with an existing foundation. The flooring, wall finishes, and bathrooms had already been completed, presenting a unique opportunity to design not by replacing, but by reimagining. Rather than altering the permanent architectural elements, we chose to respond to them with sensitivity and intent, building upon an existing canvas through thoughtful interventions.
A restrained architectural shell became the perfect backdrop for a rich composition of colours, textures, and materiality. Warm woods, expressive marbles, handcrafted brass accents, tactile fabrics, bespoke wallpapers, curated artworks, custom wall rugs, sculptural lighting, and finely crafted furniture were carefully layered together to introduce depth, warmth, and character. Every detail from wardrobe handles and brass inlays to furniture profiles and architectural accents was designed to quietly enrich the experience of everyday living.
Each private space was envisioned through its own material language, allowing every generation to find a reflection of themselves within the home. The parents’ master suite embraces timeless elegance through bespoke wallpapers, intricate brass detailing, warm wooden elements, upholstered forms, and refined classical proportions that evoke a quiet sense of grandeur. The elder son’s bedroom adopts a restrained contemporary language, where textured wardrobe shutters, fluted surfaces, and handcrafted terracotta finishes create a tactile, minimal aesthetic. The younger son’s room derives its identity from the striking richness of Rosso Levanto marble, delicately echoed across the headboard, dressing detail, side tables, and bespoke detailing, while floating wardrobes lend the room an enhanced sense of openness and visual lightness. Extending this narrative, the youngest member of the family ,the elder son’s little daughter is welcomed into a world of imagination through playful colours, interactive pegboard walls, bespoke wall rug ,adaptable furniture, thoughtful storage, and joyful details designed to evolve alongside her.
Designed for three generations living under one roof, every room reflects the individuality of its inhabitants while remaining part of a larger, cohesive story. Rather than following a singular design language, the home celebrates contrast with harmony, where every space possesses its own identity while collectively contributing to one unified experience.
The common spaces become the heart of the home. Soft curves, floating forms, natural materials, and handcrafted details create an environment that feels both inviting and expressive. A bespoke Shreenathji Pichwai anchors the central passage, transforming a simple circulation spine into a moment of pause and reverence. The mandir, thoughtfully carved within the living and dining spaces, becomes the spiritual heart of the home, seamlessly woven into everyday life rather than existing as an isolated room.
Across the living and dining areas, marble and wood converse through floating compositions, sculpted furniture, and carefully curated details. A curved composite wood sofa back, revolving lounge chairs, layered centre tables, bespoke cabinetry, and subtle brass accents lend warmth and refinement, while artworks and handcrafted pieces infuse the spaces with personality and life.
The kitchen continues the home’s material dialogue through understated wood finishes, warm beige tones, and earthy terracotta subway tiles. A gently curved breakfast counter extends from the kitchen platform, softening circulation while reinforcing the fluid geometry that quietly binds the home together.
Aayam is not defined by a single style or material.
It is defined by layers of people, generations, memories, colours, textures, craftsmanship, and experiences.
Each room introduces a new perspective.
Each material adds another dimension.
Each detail strengthens the story.
Together, these many Aayams create a home that is deeply personal, timeless, and alive.
