AED Globe Theater

AED Globe Theater

The Academy for Educational Development is a multi-national non-profit organization seeking to extend their public outreach program by converting an abandoned movie house into a multi-purpose theatre and conference center. The 7,000 square foot facility seats three hundred and includes a conference center, meeting rooms and catering facilities. The Globe Theater can accommodate presentations ranging from lectures to discussion panels, live musical and arts performances to film expositions.

AED is a nonprofit organization working globally to improve education, health, civil society and economic development – the foundation of thriving societies. In collaboration with local and national partners, AED fosters sustainable results through practical, comprehensive approaches to social and economic challenges. AED implements more than 250 programs serving people in all 50 U.S. states and more than 150 countries.

Through our work over the last ten years, Studio Twenty Seven Architecture has assisted AED in implementing a signature appearance in the spatial and architectural details of their office and conference, meeting and display spaces. The work includes historic preservation reviews, functional program and site data analysis, project phasing, rental space management, design phases, construction administration, exhibit design, feasibility studies and building envelope analysis. Studio Twenty Seven Architecture has assisted AED with mechanical upgrades, emergency generator installations, the building of pedestrian bridges between the existing buildings along with the accompanying variance hearings required.
