This is a 2,045 square foot home built on a vacant lot in East Nashville. The house is a mid-century modern inspired design with two opposing roof forms, clerestory windows and an exposed concrete block walled courtyard that provides privacy from the street while allowing the inside to open up to nature.
The client was a very talented landscape designer as well as an accomplished guitar player. The exterior design of the home provided spaces for the client’s landscape vision and the concrete block wall out front provided a backdrop for the plants while maintaining privacy from the street.
Inside, natural light fills every space including the client’s personal recording studio. The connection to the outdoors is futher heightened by continuing the courtyard wall from the exterior entry into the dining room.
