The Albrecht residence is located in a traditional riverside neighborhood on the banks of the Mississippi River where it widens to become Lake Pepin. From the street, the house is bookended by two gabbled garages that frame the entry to a semi-enclosed courtyard which functions as both the front entry and back yard patio. A brick-clad, L-shaped, flat-roofed structure encloses the north end of the court, with a vertical chimney dividing the private sleeping areas from generous open living spaces that look onto the river. Atop the roof sits a grey slate tiled office volume and an elevated screen porch with views of the river below.
