A full renovation of a 1900s Lisbon apartment, set on a prominent corner site of the city, captures the essence of Lisbon’s “luz” through a sequence of internal porticos, designed to channel day light to the inner rooms of the floor plan.
A sustained, carefully curated approach to interior architecture, restoration and furniture design honours the spatial qualities of the building fabric, revealing the layered character of the apartment’s different eras, which operated as a psychological clinic before the renovation.
The plan comprises a continuous ring corridor, framing the dialogue between past and present: the restored wall mouldings and historic details meet a more contemporary approach to interior architecture and bespoke furniture design.
A human-centred material palette shapes a calm, tactile atmosphere, dominated by warm timber floors and crafted joinery with portuguese natural stone insets.
