"The intervention involved a 140 sqm apartment, not far from the historic center of Monza, with the original 70s/80s layout characterized by a full-height glass facade, common to the entire building. The strong fragmentation of the spaces with respect to the large area required an intervention aimed at radically rethinking the living area, made into an open space, through the creation of a large living room in direct communication with the dining and kitchen area.

The new distribution offers more livable environments illuminated by natural light and wider and deeper optical cones, clearly dividing the living area from the sleeping area. The articulation of the space is defined both by material key and through the installation of elements designed in strong connection with the full-height glass facade that serve to define the dining area, kitchen island, and bookcase opposite the load-bearing structure.

The living area is characterized by the presence of very warm materials, natural oak parquet strips and anodized aluminum, contrasted by a forest green fifth that marks the passages and cuts of light welcoming the hallway, services, and sleeping area. Apparently colder, it lights up in the upholstery and in the windows, taking up the golden warmth of the anodized aluminum ‘fil rouge’ of the entire project. While, in the bedrooms and bathrooms, it dialogues in the use of classic cement tiles with an arabesque motif.

The design furnishings, including Marcel Wanders’ MAD CHAIR for Poliform, Paolo Lissoni’s OMBRA chair for Lema, David Lopez Quincoces’ ALAMO table, Flos and Artemide lamps, the sofa, and the works of the clients, among which the collection of antique books stands out, have been given particular attention.".
