AUSSERROTHHOF

The Ausserrothhof exemplifies the harmony of historical significance and modern architecture. Located in the sunny Italian village of Schenna, surrounded by vineyards, the listed farmhouse (dating back to 1775) was carefully remodelled, preserving its natural stone walls, small windows, and wooden parlour. A modern extension with precise, striking architecture complements the historic structure, using exposed concrete and local larch wood to reinterpret traditional styles.

The New Komma Architecture

A glass transition connects old and new, blending seamlessly into the landscape with a green flat roof and frameless glazing that showcases stunning views of Merano. Inside, historical elements like the soot-blackened smoke kitchen, wooden parlour, and vaulted staircase were restored, while modern materials such as steel furniture subtly contrast the past. This fusion of old and new respects the site’s heritage while looking to the future.
