The new Axia College in Amersfoort is a future‑focused educational building that brings together three former locations into one sustainable, well‑organized, and inspiring school of approximately 6,700 m². The design was created by SVP Architectuur en Stedenbouw, in collaboration with BINX Smartility, consultancy firm DWA, and façade detailing and installation by MSP Dak en Wand.
Axia College provides education for Voortgezet Speciaal Onderwijs (VSO) and therefore sets high standards for calmness, clarity, flexibility, and social safety. SVP translated these requirements into a building that creates a balance between structure and dynamism. The three learning domains are grouped around patios that bring in daylight and create natural transitions between concentration and relaxation.
Aesthetics & Materialization: ArcelorMittal Isis Façade Profiles
The façade of Axia College is exceptionally well suited for the application of the high‑quality Isis façade profiles from ArcelorMittal Building Solutions, including matching trims and complementary sheet-metal flashing detailing. The Isis series consists of triangular profiles that offer designers maximum freedom in shape, depth, and rhythm. They are produced by the Specials department in Tiel (NL) and are available in an almost unlimited number of configurations, both in standard and random heights (20–150 mm), and can be installed vertically or horizontally.
They are also available in all possible materials (aluminium and steel), coatings, and colors, giving designers complete aesthetic control.
This flexibility makes the Isis profiles particularly suitable for educational buildings where identity and visual expression play a key role.

The combination of SVP’s thoughtful spatial design, the expressive possibilities of ArcelorMittal’s Isis profiles, and the technical expertise of MSP Heerenveen has resulted in a building that is ready for the future — one in which every student has the space to grow.
