Barbarita 208

Adolfo Bavio Arquitectos as Architects

It is an exposed concrete house that makes up 2 main volumes; one projecting open towards the lagoon and the best views through large windows and another more blind in relation to the function and southeast orientation, the link space between the two is made up of a glazed surface with a water mirror that separates the social part from the house in a more intimate area. Due to the sunrise in winter this central space generates an optimal entry of natural light that allows good sunlight and heating in winter.

The morphology of the cantilevered volume allows better visuals on the upper floor and protects with the shadow of its 4 meters. of overhang protecting in summer from the southwest sun. The natural unevenness of the land was respected, generating 2 terraced gardens; one at the level of the ground floor and another lower taking the level next to it at the level of the lagoon. All the native species of the terrain were also maintained, including the large tree located in the garages where a concrete stall was generated, the tree is fully arranged to generate 2 spaces for cars. As for the heights; a low volume was designed on a pedestrian scale of the neighborhood allowing natural light to enter the rear volume through a large central space where the upper playroom is located.

The house materials are mainly concrete, san luis stone and lapacho wood cladding for give some warmth to the central space of the water mirror and that the reflection of the water enhances the wood. As for the low volume, a green horizontal garden has been laid out on a slab of felt, with an air chamber for the green composition of plants to thermally isolate the rooms set up in the spa and on the desk. Regarding sustainability and energy savings on the roof, the installation of solar panels for the rational use of energy and minimization of electricity consumption is contemplated.
