This new home is located on top of the ridge overlooking Middle Harbour, with spectacular views over this remarkable waterway to the north, east and west. This is the second home built for this family of five, which is testament to a great working relationship between architect and client.
What was the brief?
To build a home that took advantage of the spectacular views and sloping site to accommodate a family of 5 and dog.
What were the key challenges?
To fit the required amount of accommodation on a sloping site.
What were the solutions?
To provide an internal courtyard that would allow light and ventilation to the middle of the plan, to work with the existing sandstone outcrop and levels of the site, to keep the overall form of the house relatively minimal.
