Brooklyn Crossing is a 51-story residential and mixed-use development next to the Barclays Center, whose rounded green roof provides a bucolic view through floor-to-ceiling windows of the apartments that face it, while the skylike view from Manhattan to Rockaway Beach is in every direction. 

Now the tallest building in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn Crossing is designed as a gateway to the large, 22-acre Pacific Park development, which is being built over the Long Island Rail Road tracks. The building’s brick and stone podium pays tribute to the brownstone of the surrounding neighborhoods, but as it rises it transforms into a modern, transparent glass façade that reflects the sky and the Manhattan horizon. The design team imagined the building, with its masses and setbacks, as a naturally forming rock-crystal-gem foundation: the base represents the “rock,” articulated and grounded like its neighborhood; the “crystal” rising out of it represents a more elegant core that houses the residential program; and the sleek “gem” is last, with terraces angling out to offer expansive views of downtown Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Bride, and the lights of Manhattan – this is where the building’s amenities are located, including lounges on multiple levels, a rooftop pool deck, gym, office complex, kids playroom, screening room, and library.
